Dear colleagues, I would like to direct your attention to the International Summer School on the Americas organized by the Center for Inter-American Studies at the University of Graz, Austria. July 15-29, 2012, Seggau Castle, Leibnitz, Austria Although the official application deadline has passed, we have a few open spots in each one of the thematic seminars. I would appreciate if you could spread the word among your students and motivate them to take part in out program. The seminars approach Inter-American Studies from different vantage points and I believe that especially our seminar in American Indian Studies, taught by international colleagues Jochen Kemner (Bielefeld University, Germany) and James Blasingame (Arizona State University, Tempe, USA), could be of interest to your students in American Indian Studies. All relevant information regarding the program as well as the links to our website can be found below. The paragraph can be copied and forwarded to potential students. Please feel free to contact me or my colleague Manuela Dorsch ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Best wishes, International Summer School on the Americas – A few more spots available - Apply now! What our summer school offers:
The summer school offers a platform for students and teachers from international universities to engage in the interdisciplinary analysis of new conceptual approaches to redefine the Americas in the times worldwide globalization. Thematic seminars in the respective fields allow students to strengthen their understanding of complex issues in their study areas. The discursive and symbolic constructions of the Americas are investigated from the vantage points of politics, history, law, literature, sustainability, film, gender, culture, migration and indigenous studies, thus contributing to the newly emerging field of “Inter-American Studies” in Europe. Target group: are highly motivated students from all disciplines holding at least a bachelor 's degree Information about the program, teaching staff, venue and fees can be found on our website: http://international.uni-graz.at/summerschool-guss If you would like to read what previous summer school participants and teachers have to say about the summer school, please click here.
